he Directorate of Planning and Monitoring has been functioning since January 2003. The major focus of this Directorate is to plan and monitor various development programmes and activities of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. The Directorate acts as a coordination unit between the University and Government Departments of Tamil Nadu State. The Directorate processes the new research scheme proposals of the University in getting funds for infrastructure development and facilitates implementation of various schemes for the benefit of the farming community. It is also involved in preparing and reporting the monthly progress of various schemes funded by Government of Tamil Nadu and India. The special tasks include preparation of Governor’s Address, Budget Speech, Citizen’s Charter, Policy Note, submission of proposals for Government announcements in the Legislative Assembly and follow up. The Directorate of Planning and Monitoring shoulders the responsibility of preparing the Annual Report of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. Every year, the report is placed on the Table of the Tamil Nadu Government Legislative Assembly. The activities of the University from all the centres (colleges, research stations and KVK’s) are published through monthly TNAU News Letter. The Research Priority Setting Monitoring and Evaluation Cell (PME Cell) and International Cell for the student exchange operates in this Directorate.
