The ongoing projects include refinement of existing designs of farm tools and equipment by using Computer Aided Design facility with the involvement of farmers and manufacturers, development of high capacity machines like multirow weeder for wide row crops, equipments for orchard tree crop management, vegetable transplanting and clearing of banana crop residues after harvest. Survey of agricultural machinery manufacturers and indigenous tools in Tamil Nadu is also undertaken. The following are the thrust areas:

  • Refinement of existing designs of farm implements and machinery
  • Development of high capacity farm machines
  • Horticultural crop mechanization
  • Sugarcane mechanization
  • Groundnut crop mechanization
  • Industrial extension for commercialization

The Centre has so far developed 70 farm implements & equipments and evaluated more than 35 farm implements and machinery developed by other centres.  Forty two farm implements and equipment have been released from the Centre so far and about 25 implements and equipments have been commercialized.

The farm equipments developed at the centre are
