The
department has adequate teaching faculty and laboratories and other
infrastructure for conducting post graduate programmes in Farm
Machinery. The post graduate programme attracts students all over
India. 72 students have done their ME(AG) programme at this department
and 32 students have done their PhD programmes from this department.

The Post
graduate Programme is sought after by both fresh graduates and
in-service personnel from the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka,
Andhra Pradesh and Maharasthra. The students after the post graduation
are employed mostly in teaching and research institute under state and
central Government.
In addition to scholarship provided by the university most of the
student are supported by research schemes or fellowships from CSIR,
ICAR and other institutions. The students are given opportunity to
select the areas of thesis research according to the preferences and
requirements of the farming community.
The Department has well equipped research facilities for caring
out both basic and applied research in Farm machinery. The students
are encouraged to do there thesis or research under different areas of
farm machinery like primary tillage, powered tillage tools, traction,
sowing, plant protection, crop harvesting and Human Engineering areas
like man – machine systems, safety etc.
