About Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU)


Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) is the most renowned, highly accredited and top ranking farm school in southern peninsular India. The Institute has undergone rapid strides in agricultural education and become the premier in the field of agricultural sciences. It was first established as an Agricultural School in Saidapet, Chennai (Madras), as early as 1868 and later relocated at Coimbatore as AC&RI, in 1906. The full-fledged Agricultural University was formed in 1971. Thereafter, the discipline of the university branched profusely, which commensurate with consistent growth in the field of Agricultural Sciences. Presently, the University consists of ten Constituent Colleges distributed over seven campuses and 36 research stations covering the entire State of Tamil Nadu. The major Science-based undergraduate programmes include Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Agricultural Engineering and Home Science apart from Technology- based courses viz.  Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Horticulture, Food Processing Engineering (FPE),  Energy and Environment Engineering (EEE), Agricultural Information Technology(AIT), and AgriBusiness Management (ABM). Each discipline offers a wide range of Postgraduate and Doctoral programmes in order to cater to the burgeoning agricultural growth and development.


About Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW)

     In TNAU, DSW is the hub of students counselling and Placement activities for all constituent colleges of the University.

  The Directorate helps TNAU graduates to get good placement in nationlised banks, leading seed companies, agro-based industries, multinational companies, NGOs etc. It also facilitates students to pursue their higher education in India and abroad by conducting coaching classes, motivation lectures, mock group discussions and interview simulations. In a nutshell, the Directorate enables our graduates to become employable and get employment.
